DJ Profile: Very first pair of decks where brought at the age of 13, KAM (direct drive turntables) where i practiced every night for about 2 hours and managed to get into my first club after long hard practice mixing drum n bass for 1 hour at the age of 15, this continued for a few years along with supporting acts and trying to chip away hour sets anywhere i could in my hometown. This led me to becoming resident DJ in two clubs/bars in the local area twice or three times a week at the age of 17. House music became more of a passion than drum n bass by now and i realised that this is the road i wanted to take. Mixing House and chart became something i almost had to do due to the crowd and the kind of bars and clubs i was playing in and this has now continued to work well in oxford. I realised i had to play what the crowd wanted and to try and read the crowd as best i could, which came to the delight of the promotors in oxford. I wanted to take my DJin a step further and play abroad and see if the crowd would react the same to the style that i play and to experience and different crowd. Zante was the place i chose to take my DJin where i played beach party’s and club nights which i loved. It gave me more of an understanding that this is all i want to do. DJ. Back from my travels now i play some of the biggest nights in oxford and again want to stretch myself to play all over the UK and the world. House music is a passion of mine, and at this current point im at the beggining stages of producing my own music and remixes for people to enjoy and push my career further.

The Milton Keynes-based purveyor of sounds has long demanded respect for his clever abilities on the decks, and with 16 years of playing the hard stuff under his musical belt, there isn’t much you can teach this leading light, who makes new friends and influences more wherever he shows out.

Jason’s love for funky vocal house (he blames his mother’s love of Motown for that), combined with a genuine knowledge of his craft means that his ears stay tuned, and he stays at the cutting edge of his game.

If you want to be in the hub of the activity, you need to go where the action is, and Jason regularly takes flight to Ibiza. In 2006, he spent time in residence on the sunshine-packing, dance-demanding isle. Playing his stuff across the island at such events as Manumission, Hed Kandi & Carl Cox Pre-Parties. He is always met with a tasty response – mixing things up with slabs of club classics and throwing in some outstanding old skool garage makes him a live highlight.

It is undoubtedly that same versatility that saw him make the final cut in the Pure Vinyl DJ competition too, where he beat no fewer than 760 other spinners from around the UK. It’s no fluke, but sheer talent that got him there.

His quality and knowledge has seen him play alongside the big guns – from Ratpack at one end of the spectrum, to Judge Jules at the other, and not forgetting Alex P, Brandon Block, Jeremy Healy, Jon Pleased, Anne Savage, Lisa Lashes, TOWIE’s Lauren Pope, Rebekah, Miss Divine, Dreem Teem, Todd Edwards, Tuff Jam, Glenn Woods, Jay Walker and too many others to mention.

Jason’s played at a mainstream of huge club events which include Ultra Vegas, Hareem, The Sanctuary, God’s Kitchen, Hed Kandi, Tonic, Bagley’s, Frisky, Stereo and many many more.

Still keeping the beats moving, Jason is a resident DJ for Ultra Vegas, Casa De Funk and Hareem, which takes him far and wide and means that he is responsible for keeping floors in check in Birmingham and London on a regular basis.

DJ Phonatic: House DJ for Hire in Heerlen, The Netherlands

DJ Profile: I am a Vinyl freak, but switched to cd a few years ago. I’ve always been involved in music in many ways. I am a sound engineer, do studio work and do live mixes for bands. DJing started at very young age, but it really started in 1998 when I got involved into house music. Despite my classical education I got hooked to the powerful beats of house music. Besides the music, the atmosphere at the parties was absolutely overwhelming. At that time I decided to end my classical career and start djing house music. From that day on I loved djing. There was nothing else than vinyl, so I grew up with spinning vinyl. Sets of 10 hours or more were no exemption. Even after ten hours I didn’t want to stop spinning.

My style changed from ‘old days house’ to trance, techno, club and house. Last year I changed to tribal, underground and latin. I spend lots of hours searching for the best tracks. I’m convinced that one of the major differences between dj’s is the quality of the set. This is what I am very good at, no meaningless tracks in-between.

Always looking for the best undiscovered tracks that will excite house lovers and even the not so house lovers. I find it very important not to scare off people with heavy music. I like real house music, not to much vocals, no dark beats, no sharp noises, only powerful, positive feeling, mysterious and dance stimulating beats, all in a consistent line. I started Djing house music in local pubs and clubs. It was then that I met DJ Mischa, who now owns Zathura, where I am one of the resident dj’s. With a few friends we organized parties in major clubs in The Netherlands. I used to dj at those parties too.

DJ Profile: christian bonori is an italian dj, producer and remixer appreciated on the national club scene. Since his late teens, christian has always been truly passionate about house and techno music. In 2000, he started his dj career playing in a number of disco clubs in his hometown area. Later, he played in some of the most respected and well-known clubs in italy, including: vox club (www.voxclub.it), maffia club (http://www.myspace.com/maffiaclub) and bolgia club bergamo (www.bolgia.it). Over the years, he travelled a lot across europe and he had the opportunity to perform in three disco clubs in latvia, ibiza and germany. While working as a dj, christian quickly realized that he wanted to express his own musical ideas and feelings through electronic music production and engineering. To pursue such an ambitious goal, in 2005 Christian entered a key partnership with Paul STone, an Italian music producer with releases on Compost Records with the streetvibes group, and a fruitful collaboration with the black box group. christian has been releasing original tracks and remixes on respected US and European record labels such as the American system recordings, the german plusquam records, the UK-based mydust records, the German peon music, the American funkatronic (Sammy Peralta’s label), the Italian underscore, and the German code2 records. In 2010-2011, Christian was dj resident of the plastik club, where he played alongside well-renowned artists discography.

DJ Profile: It all began back in 1993, when Rick Cee was a mere twelve years old. Back then he claims his main influences were Jeremy Healy and Graham Park and it was whilst listening to these masters at work that he decided that if there was not room for him amongst the best, he would make room.

Rick Cee purchased his first set of decks in 1994 and by 1997 (16 years of age) he was playing the main room at Fluid in Manchester and it was there amongst the elated dancers that the DJ bug took hold of him completely leading to a chain of events that catapulted him into the club scene.

Over the next nine years, Rick Cee saw his life change to a nocturnal existence that spanned the length and breadth of the North West. From Garlands in Liverpool to Sankey’s in Manchester, from Venus in the City to 2Risque as well as guest mixes on numerous radio stations. Rick Cee has demonstrated his aptitude at an alarmingly high level, which has always remained exceptional. He boasts a long list of DJ’s that he has played at nights at including Jonathan Ulysses, Redsoul, Jay C, Jason Herd & Jon Fiz (herd ‘n’ Fitz), The AudioWhores, Oliver Lang, Jamie Gittins, Tom Sheridan, Mistress Da Funk, Jo Mills, Ralph Lawson, Nick Hussy, Copyright, Redsoul and John DeArgo to name a few! From the summer of 2002 to date, his reputation crossed the continent when he was asked to play at Café Mambo, kanya, The Orange Corner, Plastik and Eden in Ibiza and is now a yearly occurrence. Rick Cee has found a platform to display his unique technical talents on the decks. A master of his art, Rick Cee attracts young people from around the UK to experience his technical skill. His sets combine soulful, funky, classic, jacking and tech house in such a technical way using three deck mixing with a range of FX units. He plays the most recent in house tunes slipping in the odd classic or two and combines them with a superb individuality that is completely his own. He also makes his own edits of acapella’s and samples to be used in his sets so they can be as individual as the nights that he plays at..

Style with substance is a phrase that comes to mind when encountering night that he is present at. The effect is truly inspirational, arousing feelings that could transform even the most fanatic fans of any other genre of music to become committed hands in the air house lovers. Rick Cee has been laying the foundations of his prodigy for over ten years. Words cannot describe the skill that is exhibited when Rick Cee is on the decks. It is one that needs to be experienced firsthand to appreciate fully and the only advice could be to witness it for yourself. Rick Cee Recently played at Kendal Calling festival and received this review from the Boxfresh team and has just had a return booking “Rick Cee ushered in Ibiza and the sun shone – for a moment we could have been nearer the Balearics than Barrow and his brand of house was just the tonic. Feet shuffled and people smiled -he passed CDs out to the gathering crowds and we were on the home straight.”

Now relocated to London from Manchester Based Rick Cee continues to obtain regular gigs in the city and continues to travel the globe and when his not DJing he is busy producing behind closed doors

DJ Profile: MJ Sly is one of the most highly sought after DJs in the UK urban club scene having built a reputation around the country as a versatile selector able to play a wide range of musical genres to a high standard. An eclectic DJ, who has spent the past 13 years perfecting his skills and widening his musical knowledge, MJ Sly currently performs at key urban events in the South of England. DJing began as a fun hobby at the age of 12. As an avid follower of the UKG scene in the mid-late 90′s MJ Sly began playing House & Garage and was lucky enough to have an older brother with Technics 1210′s and boxes full of vinyl!! In the following years, MJ Sly quickly expanded his selection to include Soul/Swing/RnB/HipHop/Dancehall. In 2002, MJ Sly moved to Cardiff to attend University and quickly became one of the capital’s most popular DJs holding various residencies around the capital city, including the infamous Thursday night ‘Fresh City’ session at Liquid, Cardiff. This night featured weekly guests from Kiss & 1Xtra and allowed MJ Sly to play regularly alongside Westwood, HLC, Shortee Blitz, EZ and the other leading broadcasters in the UK. He also featured on Kiss 101 on several occasions, supported US artists Twista & Cassidy on tour and played for 2 consecutive years at Wales’ biggest music festival ‘Escape into the Park’.

In 2006, MJ Sly returned to the Greater London area and decided to start his own club night ‘SexyBack’. This mid-week session in Windsor fused the new emerging funky house sounds coming out of London with classic RnB/Hip Hop and ran each Wednesday for 18 months. The club night is now widely regarded as the first weekly event to spread the emerging ‘funky house’ sound outside of London. MJ Sly performed each week alongside residents DJ Pioneer (now of Kiss FM), Supa D (Rinse FM) and many more. As Head of the Atlantic Street Team in the Greater London area, this club night provided a platform for showcasing and promoting new music on behalf of the label. MJ Sly went on to produce a mixtape for Jamaican artist Cham in 2007 of which 20,000 copies were distributed around the UK by Warner Records.

Since 2009, MJ Sly has gone from strength to strength giving out over 5000 mix CDs showcasing his musical interests in House, RnB, Old Skool Garage & Dancehall and networking with DJs/Promoters nationwide to secure club bookings across the UK. MJ Sly is currently resident DJ for Reunion VIP, Keep It Funky and One in a Million events in High Wycombe, Bristol and London respectively and has been DJing further afield in Bahrain (Middle East), Malta (Europe) and St Vincent (West Indies) fusing the many different styles of music he plays together.
